If the sensor path is blocked the garage door will not operate.
As with many such problems the most common problem is the simplest one the motor unit has been unplugged.
If one of the sensors gets bumped or hit slightly out of alignment it could cause intermittent issues closing your garage door.
If the remote works only when held within a few feet of the motor unit rf interference is probably the problem.

Step 2 alter the travel adjustments if the door is stopping short of the desired point on the ground.
If your garage door is closing fully and then reversing to open again then it may be due to a problem with the close limit switch.
The chain may be adjusted too tight which causes binding and added load on the motor and that trips the opener to stop closing and reverse.
